'60 interior paint

I need to repaint my steering wheel hub/instrument cluster - can anyone offer any advice on suitable paint, and where to get it?

The original paint would have been the same lacquer that the car was painted with. The only difference would be that it was not rubbed out so the gloss would have been lower. If you use enamel or urethane, you will have to flatten the paint slightly. Lacquer is stil available, and is still the best alternative in my opinion. Regards, John McGraw

You don't mention the color. If it's black, you can probably find a suitable shade at Walmart. If it's another color, Corvette Central, Zip, Ecklers, etc. carry lacquer in spray cans that seems to do a pretty good job. Not cheap, however. Anything you have mixed locally is going to be too shiney unless you put a flattener in the mix. How much flattener?, well that's a good question.
The original was the same lacqueer as used on the exterior, but it was not buffed. Hence the semi gloss or semi flat appearance.

Matt,

I used a $20.00 can of black lacquer and a $3.00 can of cheap gloss black. The cheap paint went on better and looks nicer. Go figure.
