I am going to open up a can of worms. I just recently purchased a 1970 Coupe that had been titled using a state supplied VIN plate attached to the door jamb. The original windshield post VIN plate was removed by thieves who stole the car from a past owner, but were caught before chopping it completely up. The car is registered and titled in my state. I am in the process of completing a restoration and am in need of an original type windshield post VIN plate. Does anyone know where I can get one legally?

Check with your State....
You just might have a legal problem with 'restoring' the VIN tag after the car's already been registered/titled with a State issued VIN tag! Per NCRS rules, a State issued VIN tag is perfectly acceptable as an alternative to factory-original, manufacturer issued VIN....- Top
