    Replacing insulation/sound deadener C2

The master cylinder leaked fluid past the piston during the car's ten-year storage prior to my purchase. Not only did it remove the firewall paint, it leaked into the passenger compartment (the protective boot is missing). After stripping the interior bare (seats, carpet, door panels, etc.) I still have a distinct musty odor.

My assumption is that the brake fluid soaked the insulator, sound deadener, or both. Am I correct in my assumption that replacement of these items is a major job? Does it involve completely stripping the dash pads, instruments, etc., from the car? Thanks. Mark

I already have my glove box, heater, instrument cluster, steering column, wiring harness and under dash components removed since I'm doing a complete body off resto. and plan to replace the upper and lower firewall insulation. To replace the upper, I believe that you will not have access unless you remove the glove box, heater and maybe instrument cluster. To replace the lower, I believe that you still need to remove the glove box, heater and maybe steering column. Don't see why you need to remove the dash pads. Although I removed my pads for repaint, my dash frame remains in place. It is not a straight forward couple of hours job.
