    1108392 starter?

Can someone tell me what the 1108392 starter belongs to? It's dated 9 F 10, but I pulled it off my '67 in favor of the correct one.

    Thanks,

    - Jeff

    Jeff-----

The starter originally resided on a 1969 Buick with 400, 430, or 455 cid engine.

Wow. That's a long way from home!! I hope I can send it back to a Buick!

It didn't do the best job starting my 427/435. Glad to have the "right" starter back in my car!

        Thanks Joe!

It's only "right" with respect to numbers. Functionally, the 1108392 will work perfectly well. Remember, the "numbers" only identify what the starter FRAME started life as part of. After going through a rebuilder's core-stocks, the "numbers" have virtually no relevence, whatsoever. They are strictly an anachronism. Even if the starter were an 1108392 through-and-through it would still function perfectly in your application. But, from a "numbers" perspective, it wouldn't be "correct".

                Joe,

I understand what you're getting at. It didn't seem to do such a good job on my 427, though. Since putting on the correct bellhousing, starter, and flywheel, the car starts like a champ now.
