    C3-Brakes

I am having a terrible time with the brakes, don't have any! Good pads, installed new master cylinder, have tried to bleed them, with very little success. Did get enough brake to stop the car, but that it. Callipers seem to be functioning okay, plenty of fluid, any one got any ideas? It was suggested to me that I might need a power booster, but don't think that is what is wrong.
Was told that when the car was parked 1 1/2 years ago, brakes worked fine. I did find that there are 2 adjustments per wheel. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You will find many posts on this subject in the archives. I think that just about everything that could be said on this subject has been said. This situation with bleeding problems for 65-82 Corvettes is a rather notorious one.

By the way, there are not "2 adjustments per wheel" for a Corvette disc brake system. There are NO adjustments per wheel for the disc brakes. If you meant to be referring to BLEEDER VALVES, there are 1 each per front caliper and 2 each per rear caliper.

When you installed the new master cylinder, did you "bench-bleed" it before installing it and bleeding the rest of the system? This is essential in order to get the trapped air out of the bore chambers.

Had a similar problem with a 70. I got a rebuilt power booster and got quite a bit more pedal when it was installed. It actually got better the more that I used it and goes down some when she sits for a while.

I replaced my entire system on my 71 LS-5, including lines and I had the same problem and came here to find out what to do. I did what Joe (and many others) advised, I bled and bled and bled them. Finally, I got brakes, as a matter of fact they got harder after about a day of driving--can't explain it but they are harder now then ever.

My suggestion bleed them until you know you can't possibly have any more air in them and then bleed them again.
