Re: Corvette Trophy?
Mario,
I have some knowledge of "The Corvette Trophy". I have a 1959 Corvette Trophy. It is made of a wood base and a wood tower up the back. The base has a 1959 gold PROMO 1/24 scale mounted on it. In front of the car is a plate that was to engraved for the winner. The tower has around Corvete Crossed flags emblem in brass. Below the emblem is another brass plaque stating that it was donated by the General Motors Corporation. Many years ago I asked John Amgwert if he knew about the Trophies. John sent me an explanation and a picture of Zora standing in front of a large group of the trophies. The programme as I understand it was used in 1958, 1959 and 1960. The printing is very similar to the picture on E bay.
I hope this helps.

Re: Corvette Trophy?
Scott, The trophy you refer to was subject of a Corvette News feature. I believe it is Volume 4 Issue 3, but I'm not at home where I can check. I remember having a conversation with Bill Lester some time ago and he had one of those 1959 trophies for sale at that time. For those who have that issue it may add some insight into the trophy history. I'll check and report back.- Top

Re: Corvette Trophy? *TL*
This is, I think, different than Dave is talking about.
There were a number of awards produced to honor Corvette clubs. The clubs sometimes then held contests to award the trophies to the winners. Some times these contests were speed related and other times show related. Each club set its own rules.
I believe this was an effort by Joe Pike to strengthen the club structure he started. I can not recall where I read about this, but it has been covered in the hobby press. Corvette News or Vette Vues come to mind, but you know how it is for us old folks.
