I don't know why, but assembling the kickpanels for my '58 is making me nervous. It looks like I'll need to trim the Al Knoch metal insert to get a better fit. Is this typical? What kind of staples should I use for the windlace? And how much "overhang" should I leave on the ends of the windlace? Any odd tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: C1 kickpanels
Mike,
I recently had to trim the metal inserts on my '58 kick panels also. Seems like I had to drill a hole or two as well. On the windlace, there was a good thread some time ago on this issue. Try an archive search. I haven't gotten to the windlace installation yet, but I did order some staples from CC for that purpose.

Re: C1 kickpanels
When installing my 1960 windlace, at the top, I had to slice open the vinyl and cut out the round foam roll. Slice on the back side where it is not visible. Then the flattened vinyl will fit under the metal dash end caps. Use the windlace staples from Corvette Central.- Top
