Need input on a new page. *TL*

    Hi All,

I am starting work on a new page for the NCRS web site. I would like to put together a simple 50 year primer for Model identification. I am not trying to get too technical, but a short description of how to tell a '53 from a '54 from 40 feet away at 70 miles an hour.

I have a page started that John Hinckley, and Juliet have contributed to. It is at: Cars.html I would like your input, and some submissions to include. Anyone with good digital pictures of their cars from all 50 years, and a short description of what distinguishes that model from the one before and after it.

This is not going to be an overnight project, summer is here you know. But it will give me something to work on when I get a spare minute.

E-mail your comments and pictures to me at admin@ncrs.org

Yea, but I think Mike Antonick did it in paper already ala Black Book. But Y-not? Cyberspace is a vast land.

        John:

I think this is a great idea. It could be a great help to those less knowledgeable and at the same time provide a central archive for preserving the same. To me this is what NCRS is really all about. Thanks

            John,
It sounds like a good idea - but I couldn't review the page because I keep getting a "404" error.

                Geoffrey,

I really wasn't thinking of anything really in-depth like Mike's book. Just a quick reference for newcomers. A link to the NCRS Store to purchase Mike's book for further information might be a good marketing tool though.

You have mail John, on '66 model characteristics. Hey, at the least, this gives owners an opportunity to see pics of their cars on a nice web site.

                            John,
                            Good idea!!!
I think your idea of a QUICK ident guide would be widely useful. Particularly to broaden the horizon of both the newer enthusiasts, and those who know all about one model but less about others.

By quick, I would suggest just the basic, quickest way to recoginze each year within each "C" series, like the hood grilles on 63's, slanted side louvers on the 67, absence of "stingray" on the 68 fenders etc.

As you suggested, just the basics, that let you say from accross the interstate, at 70 mph, "Hey, look at that 62 Vet!"

Second more detailed layer of identification could help point out common inconsistencies, such as hoods wheels, etc. that don't match the rest of the car.
