    How come the 1st-2nd gear linkage is connected to the the Muncie 4 speed manual transmission in a different manner than the 3rd-4th and reverse linkage?

              I am curious as to why somebody consciously decided to make this linkage connector different than the other two? I don't understand why the other linkage connectors wouldn't work for the 1st-2nd gear linkage.
