Early Built 1968s Question

I am in the process of restoring an early 1968, October 19,1967 built convertible. I want to get this as close as possible to original. If you are the owner of an early 68, around VIN ..402340, please drop me an e-mail I have a question or two about door panel attachment. It seems that there was a change in attachment method and I need to research the correct mounting for my car.

I have vin# 194678S40597

But i'm in the middle of restoring it it is a Rally red with black top roadster.It has the 427 4-speed 390 horse in it now it is not the original motor but hte correct date block for the car it has the original heads and intake.I ttraced it back to the 2nd owner he is looking for the paper work and some pictures right now and trying to get to the first owner, the 4th owner.He told me it was a 427 tripower 435hp car when he got it had a blown motor.the first owner kept the motor and left the transmisson.But i've been told that this car is real early.

my lists show sept ends 400905, oct ends 403410. the are not enought #s in 40597 i missed that.

Looks like your car is a November 1967 Build. Can you tell me the type of fasteners used to hold your interior door panels on. Clips on all four corners, clips on the lower corners chrome screws through the upper panel corners. Or something else?

Also, are there any screws in the molded indoor pulls attaching it to the outer door?

Mine's a late one (july 68) but for you research it has one screw at each of the the two upper corners and two clips along the bottom and the door grab handle is mounted only to the door panel without screws (they are rivets of some kind).

Clem my vin# as reads on the plate on the car and on my registration 194678S40597 how come his has a extra zero doesn't that mean that my car is earlier than his? What month did they start building the 68 model in 67,is the number 4 in the vin a check number so if his reads 402340so his would be the 2340th car made and mine being 40597 would be the 597th car made or am i reading it wrong.
