    Wipers

Got my vacuum system working now. One related problem that I need help on. The right wiper does not quite go down far enough by itself. There is some play in it and it sits maybe an 1/8" too high and just catches the wiper door. This stops the system from working but I can manually push it down a little and the door and system will work. There does not appear anymore adjustment that can be made. I think maybe there is more than there should be of play in the wiper arm. I did put a new control to sense the wiper being down before door closes. It is close and door will wait then hesitate a moment before coming down and just landing on wiper arm. The door is not what stops wiper arm though. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Ed

    Ed,
I'm guessing here but the wiper arm connects to the transmission with a toothed knob you might try taking the arm off and repositioning the arm a few teeth toward the bottom of the stroke. Next stop is new transmission asm. Dale

You must have aftermarket blade assemblies... Nothing works one these cars except the exact sme configuration as the originals.. They are hard to find. I ended up replacing just the rubber and had to figure a way to retain it in the assembly. This cured my door closing problem.

The wiper arm appears, to me, to only be able to go on with a set setting not as some other wipers were one can attach 360 degrees. I believe my wiper arms are orginial. Does anyone know how much play there should be in the rotation of the spindle stud that the wiper arm attaches to?

you need to look at the safety switch under the right wiper. the arm rest on this switch to send a vacumm signal to allow the door to close. It is adjustable up and down as to when the arm contacts the switch. many times this switch is bad and is bypassed causing door to close way early. check all hose conections and don,t forget one of the hoses on this switch is a vent and just sticks through the fire wall into the engine compt.
