Air Vent Removal - Right Side - 67 AC Coupe

I have looked at it - the front end is off the body - and still cannot see how to take out the air vent flapper at the RH side kick panel.
    Thanks

I was trying to take mine off a few weeks ago, chasing a water leak. On the left side, I can see a screw coming through looking down through the plenum, but I don't see the screw on the inside. I'd be interested in hearing the trick as well.

        which flapper?

You mean the plenum? Inside the metal box where the vent is on non a/c cars? How much of the a/c system have you taken out already? You need to pull the outer box off, the whole assembly, then you can take the plenum out.

            Re: which flapper?

Body is off frame, stripped and on a rotisserie, and the front end is off from the cowl forward. I am talking about the vent which allows air through the RS kick panel. The LS is clearly spring loaded, and pops right out. Any ideas?
            Thanks

It's been awhile since I restored mine, but I don't recall being able to remove the flapper door from the assembly. Seems like it was pretty difficult to install a new piece of foam gasket material.

To remove the entire metal vent housing, I believe you need to work from the engine side of the firewall, and slide the assembly straight up about an inch.

This unlocks it and allows its withdrawal through the firewall hole.

                    One More Time....

I understand from your original post that you have an air conditioned car. If this is correct, then you need to remove the engine side a/c (evaporator) box. Once this is off, you can remove the metal "plenum" assy, which houses the "flapper" door. You can blast and refurbish that assembly, which has about 6 or 7 foam seals to glue on. Hope this helps.
