    Richmond, VA Shop Recommendations?

I just re-located to Chester, VA (about 15 miles south of Richmond, just off I-95), and at some point I'll likely be in need of a repair shop that has experience working on Corvettes (ours is a 1972), and treats them with TLC. My problem is that, being new to the area, I have absolutely NO idea where that shop may be, and I'm therefore asking for some assistance. Anyone have any leads? Also, any recommendations on shops for something as basic as an annual safety inspection?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi,welcome to Central Virginia. I live in Enon, about four miles down route 10 toward Hopewell. I have a dark blue '73 L-82.
I have heard good things about The Vette Shop in Richmond; 1910 Hull Street, 231-5010. I beleive it is a body and paint outfit only. He can give recommendations for mechanical work. You might want to ask ZIP Products since they are in your "backyard".
I use a small repair place in Enon on Rt 10 called Mitchell's for my inspections and minor repairs. Not a Vette specialist, but fair and honest and the mechanics there have not failed me yet. There use to be a small outfit on Old Stage Road, just east of I-95, turn left at the Racetrac gas station, that had a good reputation several years ago. I believe the name was Leimberger's.
The local Corvette Club, I am not a memeber, is the Corvette Club of Richmond. They have a website, don't remember the address. They are having a show in Ashland on June 1 at Luck Chevrolet.

        Roger -

We're almost neighbors. Is your '73 a coupe or convertible? Our '72 is a pewter silver/red LT-1 coupe; I'll look for you on the road.

Thanks for your recommendations. I was a bit spoiled at my old home. I lived about 20 minutes from Marcel's Corvette Shop in Mechanicville (no 's'), NY, and he is a great man to do business with. His Corvette-only shop has been in business for over 20 years, and the quality of his mechanical and body work is excellent. Even though I do most of the work on our car myself, on the occasions when I left it with Marcel for any work, I always knew it was in the best of hands.

See you on the road this season; thanks for the tips.
