While replacing the front shocks on a very late production 66 convertible I noticed there were no visible staple holes in either front fender well for attachment of the A-Arm dust flaps. The installed flaps look quite old and are attached with what looks like yellow weatherstrip cement. All of the bonds and bonding strips are intact so I believe these are original fender well panels. My current early production 66 and a previous mid production coupe both had staples.
My understanding is that all mid-year cars had stapled A-Arm flaps and other dust flaps in the engine compartment. Any thoughts would be appreciated. We will eventually have to replace the flaps and I want to put them back like they are supposed to be.
