1970 shoulder belts in convertibles

Were the shoulder belts on a convertible, in 1970, mounted any differently than the coupe and does anyone know why they were an option on the convertible and standard on the coupe?

Gene,

The shoulder belts were standard on the Coupes and an option, RPO A85, on the convertibles. They were installed exactly the same on both cars.
