    Tach rebuild kit

Can anyone tell me where to obtain new tach and speedo rebuild/replacement mechanisms for my '63. Both Zip and CC had shown them in their respective catalogs but no longer stock them. Thanks

The tachometer (and speedometer) mechanisms were manufactured by Delco Electronics. As far as I know, Delco Electronics no longer manufactures them. At the present time, there is no alternate source that I'm aware of.

Actually, they were made by the AC spark plug Division until the mid-eightys when the speedo business was turned over to Delco Elecrtonics due to the switch away from the mech drive units. You can try to find an old-line AC Delco repair shop in your town that still does Speedo work (mostly still has the parts) or use one of the speedo repair shops that advertise in the Driveline, Hemmings, and elsewhere. For all practical purposes, the function of the tach and speedo and the repair techniques are the same for pre-75 Corvettes

I've had good rebuild luck with D & M Restorations in Greenville, NC. They are on the web and have a 800 number so you can talk to the guy who's doing the work. Good luck.
