Hi. I recently purchased a distributor cap and rotor for our `75. The cap on the car has three screws holding the coil cover on. The new cap is made for two screws to hold the cover on. The GM part # on the box is 1974408. I`m wondering if I have the wrong cap or are the current replacements just made like this? Thanks for any help.

Re: 1975 Distributor Cap

The original distributor cap used for 1975-77 Corvettes with HEI was GM #1875963. This cap was discontinued in 1979 and replaced, for SERVICE, by the 1978+ PRODUCTION cap, GM #1974408 also known as Delco D336. So, while the cap that you have is not the original cap for your application, it should SERVICE your application. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
