    '66 BB heater hose routing

Looking for some help RE heater hose routing on a '66 BB AC AIR coupe. The photos I've seen of "original" cars (sans k19), show the heater hoses running on the inside of the AC compressor, loose w/no bracket. Another photo fetured a loop-type hose holder that fastened to the REAR of the compressor housing. The AIM calls for a different loop-type bracket on the bottom-FRONT of the AC compressor (on the SB at least...). I think the k19 may make the issue more complicated, as Adams book counts only 23 cars optioned with K19, L36 and C60. Can anyone suggest how the routing should go - or better yet, have a picture I can reference?

Also, do all heater cut-off valves use the bracket that affixes them to the firewall?

Thanks for any insight you can share.

    Dan,

------The strap around the two hoses is definetly there, but easily left off over the years.Thats why you see them so infrequently. It is sandwiched in between the compressor and the rear adjustment bracket for the compressor. In other words(if this isnt too clear)the bolt that goes through the adjustment bracket at the rear of the compressor then passes through the strap into the compressor housing.Hope this helps...........Bill S

        Dan,

------Reread your post.I have no knowledge of how the hoses would run with K-19,if any differently. The hoses do not run anything like a small block so you can pretty much forget about referring to small block C-60s for help, except as they relate to the firewall. It has been my experience that all C-60 equipped cars have the firewall bracket for the heater control valve.
------I have always had a hard time finding those straps(by the way),but now Lond Island Corvette(at least)has them in their catalog(section 34 part no.35).Hope this helps even more...............Bill S

Thanks for the info, Bill. I have managed to pick-up one of these loop brackets at a swap meet (a Paragon repro, I think), but bolt hole on the bracket that attatches under the housing bolt is too far inset to allow the bolt to pass through the hole. I'll need to trim some material off of the end of the bracket to get the hole/bolt to line up and sit at the approximate correct angle - but shouldn't be a problem.

            Thanks,
            Dan

                Dan,

------I forgot to mention that there is a spacer washer between the bracket and the strap. If the spacer isnt there the bracket and strap wont fit together on the bolt in the correct configuration. It is listed as pt.no.31 in sec.34 of Long Islands catalog(bolt, lock washer, and spacer combo).Dont grind on anything quite yet,as you shouldnt have to..........Bill S
