Are there any differences between mid year Powerglides and aluminum 'glides from other Chevys? Are the lengths the same, if not, is the tail shaft different and case the same? Any difference in mounting points or shifter attatchment? Are the torque converters the same? I am aware of the different 1st gear ratios between six's and V8's and rear pumps on early ones. Thanks...

Re: Mid Year Powerglide and other Chevys
There are some differences in the powerglide transmissions. In 63 the powerglide had coarse spline at the yoke, and the tail peice had mounting holes for the shifter. I believe these were one year only items. Also the corvette powerglide is more heavy duty than the standard unit. If you get a powerglide that came out of a 6cyl chevy II I don't think it will hold up very well with a 300HP 327. Chevy also had a shorty powerglide. I believe the 63 Impala used a shorty model. I think you should reasearch it carefully before you purchase a transmission. Ebay has a powerglide for a 66 corvette up for auction now. Good luck- Top
