Push a paper clip or similar size object thru the hole when in the lock position, and rotate counter-clockwise. It will come right out.

Some that I have delt with have required significant jiggling. I think the more worn and sloppy they are, the harder they are to get out.

It is old, When I turned it counter-clockwise it broke off.
No problem, just wanted it out.
