    66 PEXIGLASS QUESTION

I have a 66 conv. with hardtop. I am certain the rear glass is original. My problem is the date code. The glass says: plexiglass - acryllic - AS4, then in the lower left it has the letter "E" (month). In the upper right it has the letter "B" (year). The problem is there is no year listed for B. I have examined this with magnifying glass and it is certainly a B. Factory misstamp? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks

The plexiglass is probably original to the top, but is the top original to the car? Unless it is a one owner car, don't be too sure.

Thanks but whether it was original to the car or not still does not answer why there was no year for the letter B. Only E F and G for 65, 66 and 67 prior to that they were #'s from 63 and 64. Just wondered if someone else had seen this or had different reference sources than I have.

Jerry, on my 66 hardtop, which I know to be original, there is the word "PLEXIGLAS". The "P" is barely legible and above the "S" is the familiar registration mark ("R" within a circle). Next to the "S" in PLEXIGLAS is an "F". Below that, there is the word "ACRYLIC", and, below that, "AS 4". The "A" and "S" are barely legible. There is nothing else that I can see, even with a bright light and magnifying glass.

By the way, my car has an April build date.

            Any comments?

Thanks Henry, To the left of the AS4 there should be another letter indcating the month. Sounds like yours was poorly stamped as well. Your letter "F" indicates 1966 but you have no month. I am begining to think that the letter "B" indicating my year should have been an "E" for 65. I can hear the guy in the shop (way back then) that did the stamping saying to his boss. "Oh you said Eeeeeee I thought you said Beeee. I'll change that right now." haha
