    '58-'62 brake pedal measurement, please

Since I'm 6'6", I moved the lower driverside firewall forward to give me more leg room. Will I get a deduction for this? I didn't like my first attempt because it felt a little awkward, so I'm in the middle of design #2, which will involve using original rather than aftermarket brake and gas pedal, but moved forward. I have two requests:

First: How long is the brake pedal "throw" in normal use? In other words, how far does the pedal move from rest to maximum push. I assume the pedal doesn't go all the way or even close to the floor.

Second: How far from the corner where the floor turns up into the firewall are the holes for the swivels that the gas pedal (all right, ACCELERATOR pedal ) fits onto. Thanks for the help!

Re: '58-'62 brake pedal measurement, please

    Mike,

The Gas Pedal swivels are not level. The left one measures 1 1/8" and the right one 7/8". This measurement is taken vertically on the inside from the floor pan/firewall bend to the center of the holes. I can't help you on the brake pedal throw, mine are not installed yet. Being 5'6", I don't have your problem with leg room. I can't imagine that you won't take a heavy hit for modifying the body unless you get a blind judge.

Could still use brake pedal distance

Thanks Ted. My plan is to make the pedal adjustable so it not only works for me, but also my 5'4" wife. The angles are what get tricky, so if I can limit the main positions to the part of the pedal throw that actually get used, as opposed to total throw from rest position to all the way to the floor, it would be a big help. Even an estimate would be helpful. Does the pedal only go half way to the floor at maximum push, for instance? Thanks!
