Replacement surround arrived with very visible sag, up to one-quarter inch, along top of both front fenders. Shop says this will take several hours and lots of material and gelcoat to repair to expected appearance. Supplier says they all look like this out of mold. Is that a fact or is there a good reason for barnyard aroma here? Anyone with experience with this particular part for 60 Vette?

Re: Replacement cowl/fender surround
Part was made by supplier in Indiana. The name is something like Schemersheim.
The shape in the cowl and fender top area is awful on both sides. It sags through the fender top area by about one quarter inch. Would appreciate your comments.- Top

Re: Replacement cowl/fender surround
I have used parts from Sermersheim and Corvette Image, and (in my humble opinion) the Sermersheim stuff is crapola. I have ground thru the surface of the glass and all that is there is fiberglass cloth, devoid of any resin. In other areas, I ground down a spot and there was a huge gaping hole/ air bubble, which I had to fill. I'm not sure how he sells so much of that stuff. If I had it to do all over again, I'd rip the Sermersheim front end off my car and replace it with Corvette Image stuff. Unfortunately, now I'm in waaay over my head and I'm going to make do with what I've got.- Top
