    True A/C coupe???

I have a 1966 coupe with aircondition. The Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide states on page 102 that cars with A/C should have the hood support located on left side. Mine is on the right side. The manual also states that late A/C cars may aso appear with the hood support on the right side. My car has VIN 06634. What would be the conclusion on this? Would this be ok for my car? Or is the support on the wrong side? Or has the A/C been added afterwards? How can I tell what is correct for my car?

If your car is # 6634 it is not a late car as the 66 model year had over 27,000 units, if that is of any help.

I have an original air conditioned coupe #3615 and the hood support is on the left side. Noland Adams covers this condition in Vol. II pg. 339. The C60 option also incluuded a tinted rear window on the coupes. A small air conditioned label is located in the lower right side rear window. Hope this info. helps.

                Hans -

As Mark indicated, Noland's Vol.II book covers the '66 A/C system in great detail, and has many "clues" to use in determining if your car was "born" with A/C. Due to the complexity of the total system and body modifications required, it's highly unlikely that your car was converted to A/C.

Clem, I've had several original A/C cars in the past with out tinted glass. I currently have two original cars, one convertible with standard side glass and tinted windshield. The second is an A/C BB coupe with no tinted glass except for the rear window with was tinted on all 67's regardless of glass option.

Both of the above cars are no hit/paperwork cars.

                    Have a great day.

I have a July coupe. Support is on the right, but with indentions on the left, but no metal reinforcement! Your car may have had front fiberglass replaced. Is your battery access panel correct (nuts, bolts and cutout original)? Windshield washer bag correct on left side (Are there holes on right where old plastic washer bottle may have been (if air added)? Just a few clues.

the policy for A/C in corvettes must have been different because every GM car i ordered back then tinted glass was a required option. i never ordered a corvette with air but i did order some of them with tinted glass. my 65 conv 396 had TG but no air.
