'56 paint code and ignition shielding

Ready to paint parts of our '56. Question 1. I am going with the red and can anyone tell me what it maybe called or a paint number? that is a near match? Question 2. Did the early '56 also have the chrome ignition shield that set around the spark plugs. Once again, Thanks so much for your kind help and advise. Bud

I forgot to add. I live in Calif there fore, I will not be using lacquer. Venetian Red is the color coding I am looking for so I can look at some solor chips. Thanks again. BB

Bud, Try the URL below for paint chips. I've not used them so I can't really recommend, but it's a source you might want to try. If your car has a radio, it should have ignition shielding. Bernie Myers

            Bud,
I painted my '56 Venetian Red using PPG single stage Urethane. PPG had a code for this paint. Listed on the outside of the can is, DCC71985H. I think DuPont also had the paint codes. I delt with a large auto paint distributor. Regards,

                Bud -

Here are several Venetian Red paint codes I have:

                Ditzler DAL 70694
                Duco 2415-H
                R-M 56V52

                PPG Gallon Formula:

                DMA311 White 74.3
                DMA361 Red 363.6
                DMA336 Orange 1149.2
                DMA356 Orange 4044.4

Your shop should be able to cross-reference from these numbers; if not, call the PPG Color Librarian at (440) 572-6111 and she should be able to cross-reference either the DuPont or Ditzler numbers to a current PPG color number.

(Thanks to Dave Christensen and John St. Peter's previous posts for this info - my '57 is Venetian Red too)
