I have a question about the Neutral Safety Switch wiring for the Powerglide.
The PG in my car was installed by a previous owner, originally a muncie 4-speed.
My understanding is that this wiring is supposed to prevent starting the car in any position other than Park or Neutral. Is this correct.?
Based on the AIM, there should be 4 wires; 18G-B/LG, 18G-DG, & 2 12G-PPl.
The two 12G-PPl wires run thru the firwall and connect to the engine wiring harness. These wires are connected. According to the AIM the 18G wires should be connected to the interior wiring harness. I recently pulled the old harness to replace it with one purchased from Lectric Limited. These two wires were not connected to anything. My real question is what do the 18G-B/LG, 18G-DG wires control.? And what color wires on the new harness should these be connected to?
Another question concerning the fuse panel and wiring harnesses.
A previous owner bypassed the fuse panel with the hot wire, 12G-Red. I read a couple of posts on the corvette forum site that says this is a somewhat common practice because the connection thru the fuse panel isn't the greatest. Are there any potential problems in doing this, or is it acceptable. The car is a driver so I want reliability.
Thanks
