    69 differential pinion yoke

Can anybody inform me what the width of the pinion yoke u-joint is for a 69 with L-71 engine,4-sp,F-41,4:11 rear. The pinion yoke in car now needs a 3 9/16 inch wide u-joint. The driveshaft will only take a 3 1/4 inch wide u-joint. I know the driveshaft is original. I do question the pinion yoke. There was a u-joint there when I dissasembled it (old photos). The caps on u-joint were flush with the end surfaces of driveshaft with snap rings on inside only, not outside were they should be. This is hard to explain and I hope someone can help.

    Trebor----

The differential pinion flange for your car is GM #3878972. This flange accepts a u-joint that is 3-3/16" wide at the caps. The u-joint is retained by u-bolts, GM #1358938. The current GM p/n for the u-joint is 26015249. All of these parts are currently available from GM. However, I do not know if the current u-joint is of Spicer origin. I only use and recommend Spicer brand u-joints.
