    Police pursuit tires, 225/70R-15 100V

The National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center report on 225/70R-15 "police pursuit" tires as used on the RWD 9C1 Caprice Police Package is contained in a report at the following URL http://www.nlectc.org/pdffiles/tirerprt.pdf

The report (in Adobe format) takes about five minutes to download on a 56K modem, but being as how it is nearly 90 pages long it may be impractical to print.

I've requested a hard copy and will report its summary finding in a couple of weeks.

Shark owners in particular might want to look at this report as this size is most appropropriate if you are looking for both OEM look and the best driving performance.

    Duke,

Those are the weenie SEO (Special Equipment Option) tires. The upgrade is 235/70R15 102V. Caprice with 225 are speed limited to 130 mph, with 235 the limit is 147 mph. YMMV If you get a hard copy I would love to see it. My dial-up will not handle it. By eyeball the 225s look real close to the F70 15.

Actually 215/70s are equivalent to F70s in terms of revs per mile.
I think the 225/70s would be best on '68 Sharks with 7" wheels, but the 235/70s would be best for eight inch wheels. The speedo might read a hair low, but the extra load capacity should raise the numbers, and they'll fill up the wheelwells nicely.

The "V" speed rating is valid for the Corvette because of it's lighter weight than an fully decked out 9C1.

I should be receiving copies of tests for both the 225/70s and 235/70s. I'll bring 'em you Laughlin, and you can read 'em while I drink the beer you buy me.
