Car Finally In The Paint Shop

I wanted to thank the many of you who have assisted me in my jouney to complete my 67 red L79 conv. After 3 1/2 years of near daily work I dropped my baby off at the painters. I never thought that I would be doing the fiberglass touch up, detail sanding and preparation of the body that I ended up doing. I have had to use the discussion board as a crutch many times and I appreciate the help thus far and still have many more questions ahead. This discussion board has been extremely valuable along with participating in judging and phone conversations with other members. I look at this as phase two of three complete. Phase One - Body Lift and tear down Phase II chasis rebuild and Paint Phase three - reconstruction. Thanks again

Congrats on reaching this Phase 2 milestone. I have a 65 body-off resto in progress and the body was just recently painted and buffed. I will see it for the first time Thursday. In parallel I have the frame and components completely disassembled. I hope to have a rolling chassis again within the next few weeks. Then I will introduce the new restored frame to the new shiny body, work out the kinks and peace will once again return to my household.

Progress is a good thing. Nice to hear you are getting closer. I have about two more years before I am done. Body sanded but not yet at the painters as I have to get engine finished and installed so I don't scratch paint. Good luck with the rest of the project.

Acknowledging, of course, that "working out the kinks" may take as much time as anything else you've done to date.

It can also cause significant disturbances in the peace of the household, too.

Another one of those "don't ask how I know this" sorts of things.

I get my 68 frame back from the dipper in a week,
I will be driving the car this summer..
I'm on a mission, paint and all.
I've had this car 6 years, 4.5 yr in two diff. paint shops.
I put a 70 frame under it, urrr, don't fit.
Found a 68 in Pittsburg, got it , getting dipped, gonna pull the 68 body off the 70-72 frame, put it on my newly resto 68 NCRS frame( 2 weeks Done.), ship it to the NEW 3rd paint shop, DROP my 72 onto the already done 70-72 frame, send it off to get paint, Dropped the 72 motor off today...
WALAAA, 2 cars.....
Am I dreaming....I CAN DO IT.
