I have a 427/400 67 Vette. The engine was built on November 15, 1966. The car was built on November 23rd.

Rick, In Noland Adam's Vol II, he states a 66 coupe #5673 is a documented 427/400 car. The last documented car, when the book was printed. More may
      have "surfaced" since then. Dave

What time frame would that VIN represent? Late November? The reason I am asking is that I was under the impression that this transition took place much earlier, like early October.

        Any comments?

        Thanks

Allan, I don't have the "Birthday Book", but it would have been built around the end of 2nd week in November, on Friday 12th. Maybe someone with the "Birthday Book" can pinpoint it a little closer. Hope this helps. Dave

Are we talking of the change to '67 Model 400hp motors, or 1966 Corvettes with 400hp Tri-Power induction systems? I was surprised to see the post about the documented '66 Coupe w/400hp rating. Never thought there was one. On the '67 model change to Tri Power, wern't they produced in early Sept of '66?

              Dave,

------In the same way early 427 solid lifter 66 engines were rated 450 instead of 425,390 hp engines were rated 400hp.The derating of both happened app.the same time, although there seems to be some confusion as to when that exactly happened.I had a 400 horse AC car with a window sticker many years ago so I know they existed!...........Bill S

Bill, Attempting to research the early 1966 L72 Convertible I have now (built approximately November 11th, 1965), is how I noticed that Noland ran across the documented 400 hp car, in his survey at that time. Dave
