    1979 rear bearings

    What is the best way to get the bearing off of the spindle
    if you do not have a bearing puller. I have the spindle out
    any suggestions.

    Thanks

    I presume that you are referring to the spindle outer bearings which are an interference fit on the spindle. To remove these, there are only 2 ways that I know of:

    1) Use a bearing puller equivalent to the combination of GM/Kent-Moore tools J-24489 and J-8433-1;

    2) Use a split-plate-type bearing seperator in combination with an hydraulic press. Split-plate type seperators can be purchased quite economically in discount tool supply houses or from Harbor Freight Tools. The cheap ones are of "foreign" manufacture but, they'll work quite well for the occasional Corvette mechanic.

    Another option is to take the spindles to a machine shop and have them remove the bearings. They'll use one of the above methods. Usually, this is a while-you-wait operation and doesn't cost too much.
