    64 Rear distance

Could someone please tell me what the correct height for the rear end on a 64 Convert. is? I belive it was measured from a reference surface and the differential.

    Thanks

    Re: 64 Rear distance

    John -

If you have the A.I.M., you'll find the checking dimensions at the end of the UPC 4 Section (rear suspension). Two methods are shown - one is tire size-dependent, rocker panel-to-ground - from a point at the bottom of the rocker molding 24" forward of the centerline of the rear wheel, the spec is 8.79", +/- 1/4". The other measurement, which is not tire-size dependent and measures the suspension height as determined by the spring, is to take two measurements and take the difference between them. Measure from the centerline of the inner camber strut bolt to ground, and from the centerline of the outer camber strut bolt to ground; the spec for the difference is 3.37". These specs are from the 1965 A.I.M., for both coupe and convertible, and assume a full tank of fuel and no occupants. 1964 should be similar.
