    Repro rocker panels

I have read that someone is now producing correct rocker panels, with the tab, for the Sharks. Has anyone seen one yet? I read an ad from Corvette Central and they were saying that they had rocker panels, "correct in every detail" or something like that. Are they the lead manufacturer in this?

        Gary:

Try Corvette Image. They make the "press moulded" body panels sold by most parts houses, including Ecklers.
They manufacture the most faithful reproductions.
They can be found at :

          Gary,

Last show season I talked with at least 3 different vendors who were in the process of tooling up the manufacture of these rocker panels. Believe it or not, NONE of them was putting the original-style tabs on, but instead is reproducing the later service replacement panel.

When I asked why, they said there just wasn't any demand for them.

          Bullpucky.

And why are so many people making them, and ALL doing it wrong??????

Now Patrick - you don't suppose it is less expensive to make them without the tab? and less damage in shipping and handling? and they can sell them to the unknowing anyway?

            Cynic mode off. Terry

              Terry,

Actually, one of them said that they are a lot easier to pack and ship without the tabs. I suppose that is especially true when shipping them "across the pond" and you pay for space no matter how many units are enclosed.

As my Dad does importing and overseas manufacturing, he gave some of those guys a good talking-to while we were in Carlisle about how to do it right. If he and I weren't so busy, I'd be in the business of manufacturing and importing CORRECT Corvette parts. We've talked about it already, and someday I may send a few pieces off to get quotes. Until then I'll be happy to work on investigating suffix stickers and radiator caps.
