I have a '64 327/300 with 4 speed. The carburator is a Carter AFB, stamped "F3 9635S". Can anyone help identify this carburator? It has an electric choke, and is not original. I've searched the books I have, and no luck. Did this model ever come on a Corvette? Is it a "good" carburator for an occasional driver? Any input would be great. Thanks very much.

Your Carter 9635S is an aftermarket-only carburetor of relatively recent vintage. It was never factory-installed on a Corvette. Also, no Corvettes of the 60s era were ever equipped with electric chokes.
The 9635 is part of Carter's "Competition Series" Performance Carburetors. It has, in addition to electric choke, universal GM linkage, and emissions and EGR hook-up provisions. It is rated at 625 CFM.
While not original for your vehicle, this should be a very good street carburetor---probably superior to the original 3721S AFB. If you're primarily interested in driving and not "Flight Judging" or "NCCB Judging", this is probably an ideal carburetor. It maintains "general" original configuration and should perform well. As far as I know, this carb is still available new.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
