    71 Corvette Delco Radio Refurbish

All of you great Corvette enthusiasts are helping me wrap up my car, and I appreciate the help.

Now I want to refurbish my AM/FM factory radio. Any help on this one without going through Ecklers or the other catalog houses. I know someone out their has got to know the direct sources where they refurbish these to new or upgrade but keep the factory appearance.

    Hi Michael,

If you wish to deal directly with the folks who actually do the work and save time and $$, the only company I know of is the:

Classic Car Radio Company 2718 Koper Drive Sterling Heights, MI 48310 Orders: 810 977-7979 Info: 810 268-2918 Fax: 810 977-0895 website: http://www.car-trek.com/ccr owner: John Sheldon

I believe they do work for Eckler's and other suppliers.

Good Luck, I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.

Craig gives you one source, but more words are needed. Some depends on on what you want to do. You mix the terms 'refurbish' and 'upgrade' in your post so it's kind of hard to tell what you want to achieve (factory original or modified) along with what you've got to start with/what's wrong with it as is....

If you're piecing together a factory original to replace a missing unit, the AIM will tell you what P/N are needed based on major sub-assy. For the base AM/FM unit, there's one receiver and one convector assy for all cars. For AM/FM/Stereo, there's one receiver and TWO adaptor assys (it depends on A/C or no-A/C as to which adaptor is correct).

If you have the factory original radio and just want it cleaned up and/or made to work (no re-chrome, Etc.), why not save yourself some money and look up your local United Delco/AC-Delco dealer if you live in a major metro area? They DO offer repair services and many have NOS parts still in stock (knobs, Etc.)....
