Just purchased firewall insulation that arrived different than anticipated! This is black (ABS?) molded with various contours to fit the firewall which has a pattern similar to leather grain on the exterior with fluffy GREEN insulation glued to the rear.BEFORE I accept --- is the correct descriptive firewall insulation OR should I return it??

If you're talking about interior side of firewall, sounds like you have an 'improved' insulation set.... My recollection of original material is it was black fiberboard (like heavy cardboard) with yellowish jute on the backside. Original stuff was prone to deterioration under water/moisture soak. So, whether you return or not depends on what your objective is: correct/original factory restoration/preservation OR better than original for durability/performance. -
