Thermostat Housing

The 1966 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide (orange cover) on pages 69 and 70 list the small block thermostat housing on the 300hp and 350hp engines as being the same (cast iron, with the part number 3827369). Some of the Corvette aftermarket parts companies list the correct part for the 300hp engine to be aluminum with the part number 3877660. Could you please clarify which is correct?

As a matter of fact, we have just discussed this exct subject earlier in the week. For a 66 with 300hp, the GM #3877660 cast aluminum thermostat housing is the correct one.

I confirm Joe's reply. I installed the cast iron housing on my 66 327/300 engine and couldn't route the fuel line from the pump to the carb with the cast iron housing in place. Chenged to the specified aluminum one and the routing is as shown in several engine compartment pictures that I have. This is just one of several errors in the JM.
