1964 Steering Column Tube

Anyone know of a possible source for a used steering column tube for my '64.
One of the tangs is missing from mine and I have a loose condition that cannot be corrected unless this tang is in place. Any help would greatly appreciated.

James, I had the same problem and just bought a new one. I would imagine most corvette suppy catalogs would have them.

Consider repair

A reproduction steering column tube is a good idea if your original tube is really bent. However, since you're just missing one tang, you may want to consider repairing your original.

The reproduction tube orients the turn signal lever a little higher than a GM tube. You can compensate by cold bending a reproduction turn signal lever to lower it, but why bother? You could form a new tang out of scrap metal if the original is lost. A welding shop will attach it for $10 or so. Then you can smooth it with a Dremel grinding tool yourself.

I assume that anyone who uses reproduction parts is handy with a Dremel tool, jig saw, 3/8" drill, cutting torch, hammer, file, and JB Weld. If not, then prepare yourself for many frustrating installations.
