This is a follow up to previous post "Joe: Is This Part Still Available From GM" of 1/24.
I recieved the GM windshield moulding clips (P.N. 3904931) and here is how they compare to the aftermarket clips I bought from Zip Products.
At first glance, they appear identical. The GM clips are longer (parallel to the long axis of the moulding) than the repops by 1/32"--I am certain that this will make no difference. I clipped both clips side by side onto the moulding (off the car), and they clipped in with about equal effort, and both hold tightly. The only difference which MAY be significant, is the distance from the edge of the moulding to the centerline of the mount holes of the clips--the GM clip distance is about 1/32" shorter than the repro. This means that the GM clip will pull the moulding slightly closer to the cowl for a tighter fit.The aftermarket clip has a more user friendly offset on its leading edge where it is configured to ease installation with a slight bend on the edge.
By the way, these clips (which were used in 1967) work the same as the 1965 style clips (P.N. 3843939, now discontinued) but look very different.
