    C2 rear wheel bearing tools

Guys, several years ago Kent Moore had a line of tools for pulling and pushing the spindle on the rear wheel of the 63-82's. When I go to Kent Moore on the internet I come up with what I think is a different company.I guess what I am asking does anyone know where I can get a set of these tools? I had them and sold them. i bought one from kent moore about 25 years ago. its a pain in the buttocks to set-up. i always try the tool i got from Zip years ago also. it threads on the spindle and ya take a 5# maw(maul?) to the critter. i learned the hard way to wrap a cord/chain around the spindle flange as they tend to come out of the housing at a rather rapid rate.i might addd that there have been occasions when even the kent moore tool wouldn't free a spindle and Mr Oxy-accetylene had to be consulted.good luck, mike

I just admire a man who's not afraid to consult with DR. Oxy when the need arrises

            Can I have your autograph?

Thanks Mike, sounds as if you and I bought the Kent Moore tools about the same time. Do you want to sell yours? Keith

Mike, over the years yes. I usually would have to wind up taking the trailing arm off, which means a brake bleed job and etc. I just liked the Kent Moore way even though one spends a lot of time on their side. I guess I always thought the Kent Moore way was the fastest. I sold my tools to Chris Piscitello and he cannot remember who got them. Thanks, Keith

The SPX-Kent-Moore web-site is, essentially, a "non-web-site". SPX is the parent company of Kent-Moore as of quite a few years ago now.

I consider th Kent-Moore tools to be the best tools for work on 63-79 Corvette rear wheel bearings. Their spindle press gives you the best chance of removing the spindle without damage AND WITHOUT BREAKING THE CALIPER BRACKET. Other spindle presses attach in such a manner that, while often more convenient, can cause problems.

I believe that most of the tools remain available from Kent-Moore, but I'm not sure that all are still available.

                    The tools are as follows:

                    J-22602-01------SPINDLE PRESS

                    J-24626---------END-PLAY SET-UP TOOL

                    J-24490---------SPINDLE INSTALLER

J-24489-1-------OUTER BEARING REMOVAL PLATE (used with J-8433-1)

                    J-8433-1--------PULLER (used with J-24489-1)

You can call Kent-Moore at 1-800-345-2233. Beware, though, the cost of many Kent-Moore tools has gone up by a HUGE amount. If you do call them, please let us all know what you find out about availability and cost.

                      Correction

I mis-stated when I said that the tools were for use on 63-79 Corvettes. They actually work for 1965-82 Corvettes. The spindle press will not work for 63-64 Corvettes (i.e. with drum brakes), although the other tools will work.

Re: C2 rear wheel bearing tools

Thanks Joe, I will post the cost if and when I make contact. I think I bought all those pieces for some where around $300.00 at one time. At least you have set me up for the shock. There should be someone that is deciding they are never going to do any more rear wheel bearings and would like to part with their tools. Keith
