    Deck lid bracket openings

    Hi all,

I had a couple of questions for anyone that may know. On my '60, where the bracket frames come out of the car and then attach to the deck lid, there are two good sized retagular openings. These opening are located in compartment the soft top folds into and on the back side of this compartment. I had a couple of questions regarding this opening.

    1. Are these openings so oversized compared to the actual size neccesary for the bracket frame because of the power soft top option and the opening was needed for that?

    2. I have looked around for something to seal up the opening except for the space needed for the bracket arm and have not seen too much around. Anyone had success in finding something functional/looks moderately good for this? I thought this might help reduce any odors coming through the opening.

    Thanks a lot!

        Scott -

The openings are quite a bit larger than is actually required for hinge clearance - that's normal.

It's unlikely that you're getting any odors from the trunk - they're coming from the fuel tank compartment and its opening into the underbody area behind the driver's seat.
