PV Question??

I am preparing my 65 Coupe for a PV. The PV Guide is very clear about tires..."The Corvette must be equipped with original type bias-ply tires". The Guide does not mention the tire balance wheel weights. For Flight Judging, weights must be on the inside of the wheel to avoid a deduction. Would weights installed on the inside and outside of the wheel (for more accurate balancing) warrant a PV failure?

i pv'ed my 57 with the show weights on the car. nothing was ever said about the ride. when we got to 55mph you could feel it a little bit but it was not bad at that speed. but like i said nothing was ever said about wheel weights. how does the car ride at 55? if its ok i would leave it like it is. with those skinny tires it cant get that bad.

Dwight, Had my 65 go through the PV in 2003 and I don't think wheel weights were looked at at that time. Anytime I have had a question that I had to be sure of I have always contacted the National 65 Team Leader - as in most cases he will be doing the PV Test. Plus if you have ever dealt with Dale you know what a great guy he is to work with. Good luck.

Dwight,

I believe that the weight configuration is moot, so long as "the intended purpose" of the weights is as original.
Candidate cars can be equipped with non original parts for the purposes of a PV, and the only requirement is that they work as originally intended.
