    Water pump casting number

My 65 300 hp 327 has a water pump with the casting number 3839175 and a date code of E103. I know this isn't the correct water pump. Should I have casting number 3782608 or 3859326 ? And should it be dated?

I believe you need casting #3782608 with no date code for 65.

      Hi!
Just been there! I have just been researching the correct water pump for the 1965 250HP and 300HP engines. The pump # 3782608 is the correct pump for your Corvette. Pumps were casted at three different casting plants. You need to secure a pump that was casted at the Saginaw foundry. I believe you can use a correct dated or undated pump. The Judging guide for the 1965 gives a late 1964 starting date for date codes being placed on this pump. It is my understanding that the date code will not be judged because the code is hidden by the pulley. I have just secured a rebuilt undated Saginaw 608 pump for my base 1965 Corvette.

      Hope this helps!

        thanks!

I thought it was probably the 608, since this was used on a lot of chevy small blocks in the late 60's, do you think it would be easy to find one in a junk yard to have rebuilt?

The 608 is suppose to be an easy pump to find. Just make sure it is a Saginaw casting. Jack Humphrey found me a correct rebuilt Saginaw pump. He travels to the junk yards in the Mid West and has a few squirreled away. If you would like to contact Jack, check his postings or email me, and I will send you his email address.

          Good Luck! Ray

I also had Jack hunt one up for my 1968 SB. The core I got with my car was a #3782608 Dated A285. Too early for my early 1968.
