I have a 64 frame off convertible with correct numbers. It has NOM front disc brakes, side pipes and knock offs. My primary goal is a fun, safe and good looking driver that is also as orriginal as practical. I would like to have it judged to have the NCRS experts tell me what needs work other than the NOM parts. Does this make sense of should I just enjoy the car and forget about judging? Mike

Re: NOM PARTS
Mike,
I suggest you get it judged. Our 63 has aftermarket A/C and upgraded front disk brakes. We did at Kissimmee Florida Regional for Star/Bowtie consideration and it was great to learn about the rest of the car. It'll be very informative to learn about your car. Go for it. Plus you learn so much looking at other cars. I also observe judged. A great time. A Chapter event would be a great start. We just got the car in Dec and didn't want to wait so we did the Regional in Jan.

Re: NOM PARTS
Mike,
For your future posts and discussions, NOM is the acronym for Non Original Motor . Be prepared for heavy point deductions for side pipes and disk brakes. I'm unfamiliar with deductions for reproduction knock-offs but it should be covered in the judging reference manual.

Re: NOM PARTS
Hi Mike:
By all means have the car judged at a chapter event, and explain to the judges in advance that your primary goal is to learn more about what is original and what is not.
You will learn a lot about your car just from what the judges can show you, but you will also get about 15 pages of detailed checklists that itemize what is correct and what isn't. It's the best $35 (or whatever) investment you can make if you want to learn more about your car.
Once you know what is correct and what isn't, you can think about what steps, if any, that you would like to take to improve how the car would score if it were judged again. Even if you are not in a hurry to change things now, it is helpful to at least know what would be needed.
I find that perhaps half the battle is simply knowing what aspects of the car cause you to lose points, how big the point loss is for each item, and exactly what would be needed to get those points back. Once you know those things, you will be in a much better position to set your priorities with the car.- Top

Re: NOM PARTS
Mike, I think you may have been thinking "Non OEM" (non original equipment manufacturer). All these acronyms. Like when some folks say "repop" for "repro"(reproduction). I could never figure out what "repop" stood for(repopulated, repoprucicated, repopuliously?:-)

IMHO-In My Humble Opinion
IMO-In My Opinion
FWIW-For What It's Worth
PO-Prior Owner
BTW-By The Way
OT-Off Topic
