After reading everyones advice on installing my new vinyl seat covers, I went to my local NCRS (Rocky Mountain Chapter) meeting last Saturday with the intent of asking for more advice and possibly some help. The general concensus was to have a pro do them. Our meeting was held at one of our sponsors, Corvette City in Englewood (Denver), so I left my seats, new covers and foam with the owner, Gary Steffens. They were done by Tuesday and I picked them up this afternoon. They came out beautiful! I'm very glad I made the decision to leave them with Gary. I talked to John, who did the install and he asked me where I got the foam, because he said it was the best he'd ever seen. If you've been following this thread, someone (I can't recall who, but thanks) had suggested I buy the new foam that Al Knoch was carrying, which I did. Thanks to all for your input.

Re: '65 Seats DIY
I am still inclined to do the seats in my 65 roadster myself, but I do have some questions. First I'll tell you that I have purchased new covers, foam, burlap & wires, and a seat cover insatllation kit from CA. I have taken 1 seat apart very carefully and taken a couple of photos. I believe the seats are original and noticed that the retaining wires for the seat cushion are not inside the fabric pockets, as the wires are for the seat back, is this normal? I received no instructions with any of the parts, and really didn't want to spend $70 for the video. Looking at the way it was put together and leaving one seat together I think I should be able to replicate the process. That said if anyone has a step by step they would like to share I would appreciate it. I have studied the AIM, and also have a restoration manual I have been using, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
George- Top
