I realize the advantages of stainless over steel, but from an originality standpoint, is replacing brake and fuel lines with stainless a big deal.

Re: Fuel & Brake Lines (Steel or Stainless)
Hi Joe, problem with stainless is they don't want to seat sometimes resulting in a slight weepage. If you are going to PV your car any leak may fail you. The steel lines seat fine and also will get you full Judging credit. ( those guys have magnets!) Must lift the body to get to C2 long line. Good luck!

Re: Fuel & Brake Lines (Steel or Stainless)
Unless your car is in damp or moist conditions, the original brake lines won't rust, and as already said, will have the fittings seal easier. They aren't bare steel, I believe the term is "tinned", and they do resist rust pretty well.- Top

Re: Fuel & Brake Lines (Steel or Stainless)
Joe, My 63 has been restored twice. Once about 30 years ago and again two years ago. Anyhow 28-30 years ago I bought new steel lines from Zip Products. Bought them at the Carlisle show and remember it like yesterday. Anyhow the lines are in mint condition and no leaks. You hear more stories about those SS lines a leakin all the time. Stay away from the stainless crap on the whole car. I mean it's hard enough to get a blue ribbon without getting major dings for stainless. You are not going to be driving the car in the snow and salt anyhow. JD- Top
