Mine are correct in every way, great shape and planning to media blast them. I thought about ceramic coating them, but think the thick finish might obscure the numbers. I will drive the car, but not much, and was wondering what type finishes are best to use. Second question, I noticed that there is no heat riser ...is that a problem, or can I just put it back the way it was??

Re: Exhaust Manifold Finishes
Joe,
A guy in Maryland, Jerry McNeish, does some type of aluminum spray welding process that makes them look as cast with no re-rusting. Here's his web site (no affiliation)

Joe-----
I recommend Jerry MacNeish, too. In fact, he has a pair of mine right now.
As far as the heat riser goes, it should not be a functional problem in most cases. However, if the car originally had a heat riser (i.e. non-FI), then you'll need the heat riser for judging purposes. Also, if someone has blocked the crossover ports (usually, by installing intake manifold gaskets with blocked heat riser port), then you MUST NOT install a heat riser until you change the intake manifold gaskets. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Exhaust Manifold Finishes
On my 65 I sandblasted the manifolds with fine sand, applied OSPHO rust preventative, and used VHT high temp clear on them. You can get it from a speed shop. They looked very natural and stayed rust free for years. The VHT clear has to be cured by baking in oven or used on car to heat up the manifold.- Top

Re: mckay graphite spray works excellent
I am not sure about the mckay product but I just bought some graphite spray called SLIP PLATE made by superior graphite products, 10s riverside plaza, chicago ill. 205-559-2999 or website www.slipplate.com
You just spray it on with two light coats, letting it dry about ten minutes between coats. let it dry and buff it with a shop towel. Looks great, you can run them after about 24hrs. You can go back anytime and touch up a spot and it blends in really nice. Clossest thing i have found and it doesn't burn off or blister.

Re: mckay graphite spray works excellent
No reason to avoid this product just for these reasons, but just an FYI:
10 S Riverside Plaze in Chicago is the heart of downtown Chicago, on the River. Likely just a sales office. This is NOT a manufacturing location. Also 205 area code is NOT downtown Chicago either, unless we just got a new one that hasn't been publicized yet.
Internet search:
"205 is an area code in Alabama
It covers: Birmingham | Tuscaloosa | Jasper | Pell City | Clanton and surrounding vicinities"Terry- Top

Re: mckay graphite spray works excellent
Terry,
I guess I need glasses, just looked up the phone number again and it should have been area code 312. not sure where I got the 205 from. Yes I am sure that is not where it is manufactured. I live in Canada and I used the website to find a local dealer and then went there to get some. Apparently he has had a run on it up here. There was a article in one of the muscle car magazines before Christmas on it.
