    '67 327-300

Just curious why some of the base engine 327-300 Vettes I've seen have orange painted valve covers, and some of them have aluminum valve covers with the Corvette script. Mine have the orange paint.

Keith - The original valve covers used on the 67 Corvette base motor were the orange painted steel ones with CHEVROLET on them. As for the aluminum valve covers with CORVETTE, lots of folks liked the look and I do also, so they made the swap. Pete

      Keith,
I agree with what Pete said, however, some of those engines may be 350 HP which came with aluminum valve covers. Most of them have the casting flaw through the O in Corvette.

Kent, correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't ALL 67 aluminum valve covers have the casting flaw? Relying on memory here but it was late 66 production L79's that started showing up with the casting flaw through the O.

          Gary,
I have yet to see all the 350s built in '67, so I don't know. Mor'n'likely.

Kent, my memory cells are from the 66 TIM & JG. I will look that up in the morning.
