    C1 Wonderbar Lettering Color

I noticed Paragon and CC sell wonderbar reface kits with white or black lettering. In looking and Noland's book and the TM&JG I can't find were it distinguishes between them. In Noland's book it states the lettering is black but on one page it has a picture of a '58 and a'60 center console. I can't make out the '58 but the '60 looks like it has white lettering in the picture. The note with the pictures indicates that the pictures were taken when the cars were new. Are there any guidelines on this? Thanks, Ted

The '58-60 Judging Guide is silent on the issue of what color 'highlight' paint was originally used in the Wonderbar seek button, but the book is clear on what was used for the passenger side cove insert (brushed aluminum dress plate behind the grab bar with 'Corvette' embossed.

For 1958 and early 1959, the dress cove's Corvette emboss was highlighted with white letter while '59L-60 cars had the letters filled with black paint. Plus, the parking brake handle's emboss is called out as being white for paint accented for all '58-60 cars.

Some believe the Wonderbar radio's seek button was color coordinated to match the cosmetics of the adjacent cove panel as well as the nearby parking brake handle. That's why there are two versions of the seek button in the catalogs.

Check with the National Team Leader regarding how this paint/color issue is currently viewed. Remember, older 'untouched' cars WOULD have seen human touch from prior use which would tend to turn factory original white highlight paint dark with grease/dirt from useage..

I can get you a picture of an original 62 Wonderbar, if that would help. Let me know.

Jack I appreciate the offer. I have an email into Tim Mickey to get the position on this. I'll see what he comes back with. I believe to Jack Humphrey's point it will probably be white for '58 to sometime in '59 and then black. Thanks, Ted
