    1958-61 side cove trim installation

Someone must know the trick to overcome the problem I have been struggling with on installing the side cove trim on my 61 Vette. Particularly, there are several attachment points that use a snap-on clip rather than a threaded fastener. I cannot get the stainless trim to snap over these clips. Must the clips be spaced from the body (maybe with a washer)? How? Must they be pointed one way rather than another. I have tried every configuration. Any help is appreciated but I think I need very specific advice as I have tried every orientation. Thanks.

    Charles...

If I remember right... you insert the clip side ways into the trim strip, then turn it 90 degrees and slide them into position to align with the body holes. cove mouldings will be even with the front of the door...allow a small gap on the body side to allow for opening the door. Best to have the door windows out. the only trim that snaps on is around the glove box.

Sounds like repro clips. I have heard they are too large. I just did a 59 with original clips and moulding. Snapped right on with no problems.
